A day of play!

Today was our last day in Mexico. We took a long taxi ride out of the city and rode a cable car up to the top of the mountain.
Then we went through a fun cave. It was fun to go on a tour in Spanish. Thank goodness for our translator. :) I think it was even better cause I only got the important details.
We found this beautiful museum. I'm sure it was something else at one time. They were having free tours, so we went. But.. it wasn't super interesting. I guess we should've realized it wouldn't be very interesting since it was FREE>

I smell Cookies!

Today was our last day of school stuff. I'm really excited to play tomorrow. Our first stop was at the Pepsi factory. This is the Gamesa/ Quaker Oats factory where they make Cookies. We got all dressed up so that we wouldn't contaminate the cookie factory. It was SO much fun! I just loved that the whole factory smelled like baking cookies, it was fantastic. After we were done, they gave us cute little containers full of varieties of their cookies.

Then we went to Butler, they make steel. They had a cute little sign for us when we arrived. :) It made my day. The best part was the employee who followed us around on our tour and kept taking pictures of us.

Finally, we got a break. We got back to the hotel and then told everyone who wanted to go to dinner to meet in the lobby at 6pm. Well... apparently everyone wanted to go to dinner. So all 21 of us, plus the driver decided to cram into the hotel's 18 passenger van. It was quite the squeeze, but we got there. We ate at this delicious Mexican restaurant. They had a salsa bar with all kinds of salsas. My favorite was the pineapple salsa. And of course, we enjoyed our Horchata!

Cemex & The Hospital

Today our first stop was at Cemex. We had a presentation to learn about their HR practices.

Then we went to lunch where I had the yummiest shrimp tacos ever!

Our next stop was at the hospital.

It was a beautiful private hospital with a convenient view of the LDS temple across the street. :)

My favorite part of my trip so far was this evening when we went back down to the center and walked down the riverwalk. It was gorgeous. We found a little kiosk that had warm churros which they filled with hot chocolate sauce. I was in heaven. :) Then we went and found a little taco shop on the street to eat at. I'm determined to eat as many tacos as I can while in Mexico since I can't really get this quality in the US.

Oh Mexico!!!

Today was a LONG day! We left my house at 4am this morning to head to the airport. We flew to Denver, then Dallas, then Monterrey. Needless to say I was exhausted by the time we got to our hotel. We're staying at the Courtyard Marriott. It's fantastic and makes me feel like I'm still in America, with the exception that the front desk people don't speak much English. This was the view of the sunset from our window.

This evening, after we rested for a little bit, some of us went into the city where we had some Italian food, it was the restaurant that a friend who was living there recommended. And no, it wasn't very good, but what can you do.

This is a picture of one of the churches we saw in the city.

Christmas 2009

Christmas was such a fun and relaxing break from school. I realized that I didn't really take a lot of pictures. But here is a few of the things I did get pictures of.
I got to go to my nephew, Ethan's pre-school Christmas concert.
We went to the museum of Nature and Science to see the new exhibit.
And I did get to take Christmas family photos for my sister. Yes, there were some good pictures, but I still liked this one the best. :)

Other than that, I just enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
