Staycation w/ Konnie

Konnie came to visit me last weekend. It was so great to see her and have my own little staycation in San Diego. We took the ferry ride to Coronado, walked around Balboa Park, saw the Seals in La Jolla, went to a bonfire on the beach (Konnie thought that was really cool esp in the middle of winter. :) ) Unfortunately the sun didn't come out much while she was here so we never ended up going swimming in the water. Although every time we went to the beach Konnie pretty much got soaked from going too far in the waves.

On her last day we went after church and she pretty much stood like this in the water for about an hour and didn't want to come out. It's fun to see how much other people love the water too.

Something you may not know about California

I don't know why, but since moving here I've noticed a lot of beautifully painted electrical boxes. They're all over the place and with different paintings. I'm not sure who owns it, or if the city actually commissions people to paint these things, but either way, it's highly entertaining, and I always enjoy seeing what they'll come up with next. Near my house, there are a set of 2 perfectly square boxes that someone has painted to resemble rubix cubes. If you're ever visiting, check it out.

Merry Christmas

Since I work at a company that's very seasonal, Christmas, Valentine's and Mother's Day are big ones for us. I decided it would be best to NOT ask for any extra time off. So... my parents decided to come see me for the holiday. My mom was glad since it had been since college that she got to spend the holidays with her mom in her home town. It has been super fun to have them here. On my last day of work my boss let me leave early, and I actually got out before the sun went down, I was super stoked. We went down to the beach where I went on an awesome run on the beach and then we enjoyed one of the prettiest sunsets I've ever seen.

An MBA reunion

This past week Connie came to visit, she's my friend, previous roommate and MBA classmate. I've been trying to get her to move out here and she agreed that SD is a great place. So she finally came to visit with some companies and play while I wasn't at work. We went to Sea World where we saw the Polar Express in 4D, it was pretty awesome when they started singing about hot chocolate and you could suddenly smell hot chocolate. Then we went to December nights in Balboa Park. Hopefully one of her connections will pan out so she can move here and we can have more fun together!

A Thanksgiving to Remember

After being in San Diego for a few months, it was so good to go back and see my family for Thanksgiving. Especially after being so spoiled and getting to see them all the time over the summer and for school breaks. Ammon's family came down from Ridgway and Christina came up to Denver from Colorado Springs, it was super fun!!!

And of course, never a dull moment. Christina was opening the fridge when all of the sudden the plate rack came tumbling down shattering plates everywhere. No one got hurt or anything, but the best part of all of this were the reenactment photos. :)As the Narayan's unofficial family photographer, we took this opportunity to get some cute Christmas photos of the kids. Look how big they're getting!

Monday Night Football

I've never been to a professional football game. But it just so happened that the Broncos were coming to play the Chargers in San Diego for Monday night football. Growing up in Denver, of course I've always been a Broncos fan at heart. My Grandmother who grew up here in San Diego is an avid Chargers fan. I thought, "what better football game to go see than the Chargers vs Broncos". So my friend and I went, he ended up scoring us some pretty good seats. The game was enjoyable, I was happy that the Chargers won considering the fact that I had my Chargers garb on, but deep down I was pretty sad to see the Broncos lose.

Race for the Cure in Balboa

This weekend I ran in the Race for the Cure 5K, going through Balboa Park with my company. It was such a pretty run and totally worth waking up at the crack of dawn to go to. Afterward we had brunch on the roof of Park Manor that overlooked Balboa.

When I came home, I found this cute note my roomie put for me on the fridge. The picture made me laugh so hard, I just had to take a photo of it.
