GE

Yesterday I flew to Connecticut for an interview with GE at their corporate headquarters. I was picked up at the JFK airport by a shuttle and driven to the GE office. I was to stay in the "Guest House," a hotel on GE's site. My driver drove me up and when we got out of the car he told me to walk up this long sidewalk to where I would stay. My driver was so nice, I know that he probably doesn't make much as a driver but when I tried tipping him for getting my luggage he just looked at me and said, "don't worry about it, I know you don't have a job right now" and then he wished me luck in my interview.

Well after walking up the long sidewalk, I was completely lost. I found a building and walked all the way around it. Luckily there were these really cool cameras at each door with a help button. I decided I should probably use it. A nice security guard came on almost immediately and gave me directions to where I needed to be. I finally made it to the guest house. It looked like this from where I came in.Just an entrance with elevators. Well it was on a hill and the elevators went down 4 floors into the hotel. It was so nice to be there and the view was great. Ok, really it was just a bunch of trees, but it was still beautiful.

They were really kind to me
and scheduled my first interview at 12:30pm. I woke up, went for a run on their running trails through the trees and spent my precious time getting ready. The interviews went well, I hope :).

Then, they feared I might not make it to the airport on time so they ordered me my own personal car. This obviously isn't a picture of the car, but a mere replica. Can I just say, it took everything in me to not take a picture of my car waiting with my name in the passenger window? But considering the circumstances and that I was there on an interview, I went for my better judgement and didn't take the picture. I just kept a mental picture in my head.

On the way to the airport I just had to take a picture of this freeway. It's lined with trees on both sides, and it looks like that for quite some time. Nothing but trees. I know people have mentioned how many trees there are back east, but I guess I didn't really get it until this trip.
